Stourflex are a leading supplier of pipework expansion joints and pipeline equipment, providing technical advice, site surveys and after sales support. Their long history in pipeline engineering enables them to provide a complete range of quality approved products, as well as producing innovative designs to complex engineering problems.

The brief: To design and develop a new WordPress Website with their existing content migrated from the Joomla CMS into a new WordPress website. Their previous website was outdated in terms of design and functionality and did not highlight certain aspects of the business that were important.

Launch the site

Our process
We began the design with the idea of making the new site image lead as their previous site was very text/information heavy. We wanted to help break up this information using sections and imagery.
We also wanted to put more of a focus on their client case studies and the products themselves. This was done by using various click throughs and pulling them onto various pages throughout the site.
The design was focused around imagery and their colour palette. We did incorporate gradient overlays and different colours to help highlight various click throughs and call to actions.
The build
We started the website build by migrating all of the existing websites content from Joolma across to a fresh install of WordPress. Following this we went thorough all of their content and organised it into various post types and pages.
We planned the sitemap carefully as their old sites permalink structure varied and was not consistent throughout. We also needed to create all of the products as pages as previously they were all PDF downloads. This was done through a new post type called products and the various products were then categorised.
We also created a bespoke calculator that would allow the customer to be able to calculate the length of pipe needed depending on the parameters they put in. We also added a live chat to allow customers to be able to speak to a sales rep as soon as possible.
The outcome
The final website was fully responsive across all digital devices. The site is now eye catching and modern in terms of layout and look and feel. The products and case studies now stand alone at the forefront of the site and are now built as individual post types rather than PDF downloads. We are continuing to work with Stourflex with one of our Monthly Support Packages to help add in new content and keep the site updated.

Why WordPress

Stourflex were previously using Joomla as their CMS and wanted to move to the WordPress platform. Having a simple CMS that was easy to update and amend themselves was their main focus. We designed and developed a bespoke WordPress website, adding the functionality that was needed.
