Designing a Brand Identity for Pure Valley

Designing brand identity and packaging for pure valley foods

Designing a new Brand Identity for Pure Valley part of the Kalma Group.

Kalma Group came to us as they required a brand identity and packaging designs for their new range of food products – Pure Valley.

Our main objective was to stand out from the varied array of products and designs of their competitors. Pure Valley products are top quality and therefore required a more sophisticated packaging approach.

Logo

We designed a logo which would feature on all of their packaging and would form an integral part of the brands identity. The logo device is in the form of a “V” made up of two leaves. This is to represent the valley of fresh produce. In addition to this we depicted the sun rise by a compass, representing the sourcing of quality foods from around the world. 

Packaging

For the product packaging itself we had to design for various sized poly bags which were to contain items such as lentils, chick peas, rice and spices. Labels for jars and bottles which would contain sauces and vinegars etc. This meant it had to be a versatile design that would not only work across the packaging we knew about but would work in the future on other packaging as the new product range grows. Along with the background design the typography we used was bold and clear. This was to ensure legibility and complemented the logo device.

The team decided on a range of floral background patterns that were both colourful and impactful. We took photographs of the shelves within their stores and created mock up designs. This was so that they could see the impact of the designs next to their competitors.

We are currently designing in-store point of sale collateral to work well with the new brand identity. This is in the form of posters, epos strips with shelf wobblers, floor graphics and flyers. Again this helps ensure that the brand has every opportunity to be seen by customers as they wander around the store.

We worked closely with Kalma by having regular contact at every stage of the design process, right through to the final print. This ensures that the best possible outcome was achieved and that they were very happy with the end result…
